We are having a lot of kids aboard for a late summer Ft. Lauderdale fishing trip as summer break draws to a close and school is right around the corner. This morning we had Myra, and her two young ones Vanessa (9) and Will (11). This family group has fished with us in the past and we got away from the dock at just after 8 AM.

Gone was the rain that has been around for what seems forever and out came the sunscreen for a beautiful bright sunny day. Just a slight easterly wind this morning which helped to keep it cool and the seas were about two feet. Perfect for children and us as well.

We put out a trolling spread in 120 feet of water just south of the #1 Sea Buoy @ Port Everglades Inlet and started to work back and forth across the reef line and to the south. The two kids did all the reeling this morning and mom worked the camera. We had several nice Kings this morning with Vanessa looking as if she would take big fish honors until Will caught the largest King late in the charter. Some fat Bonito also found our baits and gave their usual strong fight. Smaller Barracudas have been around and they were here again this morning.

All the fish were caught using our usual summer rig involving the Bonito strip baits cut by Brian and Chris from previous catches. We had good action today on the pink and also the green color combinations. We had a very high hook up ratio to bites as well today which is especially a good thing when kids are the anglers (more so than adults). The perfect ending would be to land every bite for the junior anlers and we were close today. Lots of fun this morning as a child's enthusiasm is catching and Chris and myself enjoyed their company.
