Due to the wind conditions the past week we've only run two trips outside NY Harbor. The trips inside the harbor showed some very goog fluke fishing.Average fluke Per trip about 50 to 60. Keeper ratio about the same as It's been for a while now about 1 in 12. Crazy throwing back 17 to 20 inch fish but that's NY.
On the trips outside the harbor over rocky ground and along reefs we had some great Black Seabass fishing while drifting fluke. Largest Seabass 6.25 Lbs with many smaller fish in good numbers. These drifts also brought up some great fluke with fish up to 6 1/2 lbs. Much better keeper ratio about 1 to 8.
Also I'm happy to report that we are starting to see some fair striped bass fishing on the eve trips fishing clams and chunking bunker. No large yet, fish in the 15 to 18 lb. class and you have to work for then, but this will only get better as the days go by.
