Valerie McKinnon set up this trip for her brother Zack and friend Dillon Wright. They had never fished salt water before and made the trip from Shreveport, La to Hopedale and were ready for some fishing action. Boy did they get it.

We fished some birds on the way out to let them get the hang of the popping cork routine with the small trout. Then on to the outer bay where we found some nice trout eager to take our baits. Valerie was putting the guys to shame at first but Zack and Dillon came back strong. It was a 3 stop trip today with the third stop being the charm. Solid 2 lb fish nailing the baits under popping corks in 4 ft of water. The action was nonstop. Valerie, Dillon, and Zack were having a blast and had the trout flying in the boat. Limited out and played catch and release for awhile and then wrapped it up and headed for the dock with a box full of trout.

It was a real pleasure putting these young anglers on fishing adventure that they will remember for a long time. They are avid freshwater anglers but said that they loved the action salt water angling provided and the way the specks hit and fight on the light tackle. They said they will be back again soon, Valerie and Zack said they are going to treat there Dad to a trip next time they come down.

Sounds like Dad has done a good job raising these two and teaching them to fish and love the outdoors. 75 SPECKLED TROUT 2 to 3 lbs.
