Well as luck would have it, the winds haven't completely disappeared just yet. I had the pleasure to fish with Bill Owenby, his dad Mike aka 'PawPaw', and friend Danny.
We headed down the channel to meet the stiff winds. I decided to get in on the action at the rocks, which hadn't been the fastest or longest lasting. It was definitely the right decision to make.
It didn't take long before the first fish was in the net! The trout were all nice fish up to 22'. I bounced us around playing hopscotch with the other 300 boats and the action definitely slowed.
Mike kept on all morning about a redfish and 'gettin' lucky'. So I threw it out there at them if they wanted to save some shrimp and try for a few reds. They were all game, especially PawPaw.
I got us to the redfish hole and there wasn't much tide moving, but we still found a few takers.
Around 10:30 we called it, and headed for the barn with a solid box of fish! Ending with 51 solid trout, 8 redfish, 1 drum, and 2 flatfish. All fish were caught on Boogie Shrimp and Croakers under a popping cork.
Capt. Jonathan, also had a good day with 66 speckled trout and a few redfish in the mix.
