On my last report, I mentioned that I was getting ready to head over to the Dry Tortugas for a few days of bottom fishing. Our trip was one that will provide memories for years to come. Even though July isn't the best time to fish the area around the fort we still had great fishing consisting of mostly flag yellowtail snapper.

Closer to home the action has been a little tougher. Most trips require a lot of work in order to put together a nice catch. Some of the species being caught are bonito, kingfish, mahi-mahi and some mutton snapper.

On one of my recent trips the Linker group from Nevada caught and released about eight nice size bonito and a couple of amberjack. The group also managed to catch four nice mutton snappers that headed for the hotel grill that night. It seems that the rods were bent for most of the day.

Yesterday, my party was interested in pursuing yellowtail snapper on the reefs. After a few hours of fishing we only had a few snapper and a couple of nice cero mackerel in the box. Unfortunately for us this was not one of the better days on the reef.

Right now patience and a little luck are the keys to good fishing. I've you're ready to give it a try give me a call and we can give it a shot in August. I still have several days available.

Tight Lines,
