It's a gift! What else can you call it when you fish from sunrise to sunset and catch fish the entire time? That's what happened this past Monday, Nov. 20th. And I will definitely give thanks. After five days of dismal conditions due to last week's wind and rain, the fall run bounced right back. First there were fish working near the airport in the early a.m., and I was able to hook about 15 on the fly until it died out around 10:00. I was considering calling it a good day, but after hearing the lousy forecast for the rest of the week I decided to run outside to the ocean to see if things had come back to life. The water was miraculously clean after 5 days of "chocolate milk" discoloration. I made a short run east and around 11:00 I found birds working over massive schools of striped bass. It was "stupid" fishing from the get-go. I was hooking up on almost every cast and didn't even need to chase the birds as the schools were wide and deep, the fish-fisnder was marking thicks schools, mid-depth to the bottom in about 30 feet. But the tide was due to end in about 2 hours and I figured that would shut it down...but it didn't stop, it didn't even slow down. Around 2:00 and after about my 35th fish of the day (none bigger than 26" btw) I was getting a little delirious, but I couldn't leave, I was extremely curious to see how long this could go on, I don't think I have ever seen a bite last as long as this, it went strong until 3:30, and I estimate I caught close to 50 fish all total for the day.

The water temp was still relatively high, so things should continue for at least a few more weeks, if not straight through December. Unfortunately as of now the forecast for Thanksgiving Thursday & Friday is for very strong winds and high surf. It is expected to calm on the weekend. I am available for charters on Sunday 11/26, Monday 11/27 & Friday 12/1. I will be in Florida for some bonefishing 12/7 thru 12/10 but will be available for charters after that, weather permitting.

Happy Turkey Day!
