From my offshore trips to my nearshore trips the young anglers are showing the older ones how it's done. If we're talking Grouper, two weeks ago I witnessed a 13 year old slay big Red Grouper on every drop. Snapper?, no problem, last week I watched an 11 year old catch the biggest American Red(14Lbs) and Mango(5Lbs) of the trip. Snook?, Please. Give them a challenge, a 16 year old girl from Kentucky caught and released a 34" Linesider for her first saltwater catch. Oh, I almost forgot the 8 year old working a 22Lb Cobia on light tackle, laughing hysterically the whole time. I'm not sure why the kids seem to catch the trophy of the trip, but I'm sure it has a lot to do with the parents' unselfish behavior and sacrifice toward them. That coupled with unshakable enthusiasm and optimism give kids the upper hand while on the water. So keep up the good work parents, and be happy to be humbled by your youngster while fishing.
