My lake season is in full swing and we took a real beating this past weekend. High winds, heavy rain and some lightning made it interesting. We managed to get our trips in and caught a few each time out.
Moday was still windy but we made our way to the east and found what we were looking for. Lot's of brown trout.
Today was the even better as it was non-stop from daylight until we headed to deep water around 9 AM. We managed to find a few silver fish in the depths and it ended as a great day
Lake Ontario brown trout fishing in the Oswego / Mexico Bay area has been up and down. If the winds are right, we hammer them, if not we pick away at them. Fishing the shoreline close to the shore run smithwick and reef runner stickbaits off the planer boards back 80 to 150 feet. Feel free to add a one or two split shot to help with weeds and keep them down and extra foot or so.
On the downriggers, Black / silver white belly spoons are working early, then switch to dreamweaver Super slims in the chicken wing, mixed veggie, rosemary's baby and the hammer spoon. Vary your trolling speed from 2. 3 to 3.0 and don't troll in a straight line. S turns work the best as any speed variations can and will trigger strikesfrom Mr. Brown Trout.
Things will just keep getting better as the water warms up.
I need to take some more phots, but below are a few.
I have May 22, 25, 28, 29, 31 open if you want in on the action.
