[Pulaski,NY] The weather over the last few days has been outstanding if you are a steelhead fisherman.
[Pulaski,NY] Here we are into the 2nd week of February already and the winter that wasn't continues. We still don't have much snow but it looks like a little is on its way.
[Pulaski,NY] Living in Upstate New York wintertime is always unpredictable. Some years we are faced with brutal conditions. I fished the Salmon River with clients in temperatures as low as -38 degrees (not one of my favorite days). Meanwhile, so far this winter has been mild. If these conditions persist February is going to be a good steelhead fishing month.
[Pulaski,NY] 2011 is winding down but the steelhead fishing is remains amazing. The fish gods continue to shine on area anglers. The salmon river is loaded with a mix of fresh and dark fish and they are spread out from top to bottom.
[Salmon River,NY] Finally after close to three months of low water some much needed rain fell on the region and we can use it.
[Pulaski,NY] Well in spite the low water we are having a season that you dream about. The fishing is nothing short of incredible.
[Pulaski,NY] Today it feels like Fall. West - Northwest winds are coming on strong, a cool rain is falling and this may be just what we need to get the river fishing as it should be.
[Lake Ontario,NY] The salmon fishing on Lake Ontario has Red Hot and now that Irene is past us we will see what this week brings.
[Oswego,NY] From The Shipping Lanes all the way to Sodus Bay large numbers of king salmon are being found in 200 to 600 feet of water.
[Lake Ontario,NY] We have seen more kings in the last week than we have all season.

[Pulaski,NY] Fish everything! The heads, tails, gravel, slow water, you never know where you will find a dropback, fresh fish or a brown. You have to cover it all.
[Pulaski,NY] Fished 6 of the last 7 days and it has been up & down. 3 to 5 landed is a good day right now and we were able to do that every day but one.
[Pulaski,NY] January is behind us and thoughts of spring are on everyone's mind except hardcore ice fisherman.
[Pulaski,NY] On the Salmon River the water is now at our winter low 285 cfs. This has always been a terrible flow but we have to live with it.
[Pulaski,NY] On the Salmon River the snow today and cold weather has most of the river full of slush. You will have to concentrate your efforts in the upper end of the river.
[Pulaski,NY] The fish gods continue to shine on area anglers. The salmon river is loaded with a mix of fresh and dark fish and they are spread out from top to bottom.
[Pulaski,NY] There is still plenty of good fishing open water fishing and pressure is very light.
[Pulaski,NY] The water is up and the river is loaded with fish. We continue to pick away at them from top to bottom.
[Pulaski,NY] Steelhead and browns are scattered throughout the faster runs and gravel areas of the river. The anglers having the most success have reported that the key is to cover lots of water because the fish are spread out.

[Pulaski,NY] Right now the Salmon River is in great shape and is very fishable for any style of fishing. It is running 750 plus some run-off.
[Pulaski,NY] It has been on and off for two weeks now. They bite like crazy one day and they are stubborn the next. Typical Winter Fishing.
[Pulaski,NY] Here we are in the 3rd week of January already. The recent warm spell combined with a holiday weekend, brought out anglers to the salmon river in full force.
[Pulaski,NY] This latest cold snap has also locked up all the area lakes and ice fisherman have big smiles on their faces.
[Pulaski,NY] Winter is officially here and the low cold water on the Salmon River has really slowed the activity down. Water temps continue to drop and slush is an everyday problem. Looks like a warm up for the weekend but nothing drastic.
