The Oswego Harbor is producing some nice catches of brown trout as well as a few nice atlantic salmon. I know of several weighing in between 10 and 12 pounds. What a nice bonus to find when you are really only looking for 3 to 5 pound trout.
The lakeshore is fishing well as boaters are finding brown trout trolling along the shore in 10 to 20 ft. of water, primarily at the mouths of the tributaries. Stickbaits and small spoons in black and silver are working the best. Troll slow and concentrate your efforts in and around the warmest water.
The Bull head fishing is just getting underway and conditions will really improve over the next few weeks as the water warms and fish move in. Top spots include North and South Sandy Pond, The Salmon River Estuary, The Grindstone Marsh and the Little Salmon River.
The salmon river flow is very low, but dropback steelhead are being caught from top to bottom.
Worms, beads and egg sacs are working best. Fish the fastest deepest runs you can find. Don't waste your time in the slow pools. The fishing this week has been good!
Some recent pics. Sorry for the lack of updates. I have 12 more days on the river if I can get them in and I get a much needed break and will update more often.
