2011 is winding down but the steelhead fishing is remains amazing. The fish gods continue to shine on area anglers. The salmon river is loaded with a mix of fresh and dark fish and they are spread out from top to bottom. Water flows are about perfect for boats and bankies and although it looks like winter has finally arrived it still is not that bad
White, blue & pink egg sacks are the top baits followed by 10mm beads in glow roe and white lightning and the plug bite has been good as well. The slightly stained water is keeping the fish active and the fish ones just keep coming in.
As you may know I am in Florida but this is a photo from a year ago, kind of keeps me grounded as the sunny Florida will spoil you fast.
The Oswego River is loaded with browns and the fishing behind the hotels has been really good. White jigs tipped with a minnow will do the damage there.
Ice fisherman have been disappointed thus far but I believe that will change soon. Please be careful on that early thin ice. It is just a fish and there is no reason to take the chance.
I will be back on the water in March and still have open days if you want to lock something in.
I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and I wish you a blessed New Year!
