The lake season is winding down for me as I switch gears and put on waders for the next 8 months. The lake fishing will continue right into October, but I had some early river reservations this year so I only have a week left on the big pond.
You can see by the photos below that we have had some fantastic days recently but there was plenty of tough ones mixed in. I tell it like it is and the 2009 lake season was anything but consistent.
The fish are here now but boy are they stubborn at times. They are staging in front of all the major tributaries and the Salmon River has already received a good push of fish with small pods trickling in each day.
E-chips & spinnies in White Mountain dew, glow green, white green dot and some chrome, with TG Flies, Hammer flies and B-flies are all top producers right now.
You basically have to go over the right fish at the right time at the right speed and at the right depth and hope he or she decides to snap at your offering.
The web cam will be going live again soon, perhaps today. It is very costly to maintain so we shut it down for the summer months.
The summer issue of LOO should be delivered by the 18th and remember you can read the digital version on our website.
