September Closes With Great Fly Fishingby

On the fishing front things have slowed down a little bit. The storm caused the water to get quite churned up and with that we experienced some slower fishing. We continue to see the fishing improve although it is still not as good as it was. I believe over the next few days we will be back to the wonderful fishing we were experiencing before the storm.

The fishing has picked up from what it was last week. This week we saw very good action for Dorado and Tuna. The Dorado and Tuna seemed to inhale every fly presented to them.

Hot Weather = Hot Fly Fishing Actionby

Our fly fishing remains consistent with my anglers finding consistent action. Dorado and tuna provided the most action. This past week the fish moved in quite close to shore and we once again found the fish just four hundred yards off shore in the area of La Capilla. Most of the tuna were in the 10-20lb. range with a few bigger ones. The dorado once again this week were great for the fly fishing angler who was fishing Baja.

Weekly fly fishing reports for Baja Mexico including East Cape, Cabo San Lucas and Magdelena Bay. Baja Mexico Fly Fishing Report for August 12th 2010. Another great week of great fly fishing here in Baja. The fish are very spread both north and south. What that means is we have a lot of fish in the area. On most mornings we have been fly fishing for tina, bonita, and dorado just minutes from the hotel.

Hi Everyone! The last ten days have brought a few surprises including some colder water offshore. Marlin fishing has slowed down considerably as well as the Dorado. But we've had some great inshore fishing, you've seen those photos above!

Well, April is off to a great start. Both the offshore fly fishing and inshore fly fishing are going pretty well. Offshore we have a good number of Sail fish as well as Marlin. These fish showed up about a week ago and have been here ever since.

We once again had them crashing all around the boat and each one found a way to not get hooked completely. The inshore fly fishing is heating up.

Speaking of fly fishing, we have some pretty good fishing in the area. We did not have much wind last week and that allowed us to be on the water. I was able to get out the other morning and do some fishing for myself and I found nice pockets of action.

This past week we experienced a break from the wind. Last Friday the wind dropped and we woke up on Saturday to flat calm seas and beautiful weather. The wind has remained calm for the entire week giving the fly fishing angler as well as the conventional angler great fishing conditions.

The fishing continues to be good throughout the bay. The bite for Tuna, Dorado, and Bonita remains very strong. This past week we have not had to travel as far to the south to find the fish as in previous weeks. The fish have slid all the way up the line and today were located right in front of La Ribera.

The fishing has started to pick up from what we saw last week. We are seeing very warm water temperatures that are on average about five to eight degrees warmer than normal for this time of year. This warmer water is providing good bait populations both inshore and off shore.

We started out by heading North on the Sea of Cortez side to pick up some sardina for chum that have been located off of hotel Palmilla.

Fly fishing Baja - Tuna and sailfish take center stageby
Jeff deBrown
(10/06/2008)
We saw a little better bite this week for the off shore species. Tuna were the main catch along with sailfish. We have a lot of sailfish in the area about twenty miles out on a sixty degree heading. Most of the boat were catching at least two or three fish with some of them landing double digit numbers of sailfish.
