I had the pleasure of fishing with some of the guys from Air Liquide. Tim, Lorne, Jeff, and "Nunc" from Kentucky, all got together with their Coca Cola money from the plant and splurged for a trip.
We made a stop off the channel by the rocks and immediately got on a fast trout bite. Nunc was absolutely stunned at what was happening, as this was his first ever saltwater trip. Needless to say he caught on super quick and was doing 'em up like the rest of the crew! After we boxed about 50-60 fish, they all turned tiny.
I then moved us to a structure about a mile away. Water was clean, tide was right, and the fish were SOLID! They were slow to go at first, but within 10 minutes the guys got them cranked up. Keeping me busy, busy with the net, the igloo was steady filling up.
Tim wound up hooking a bull red that slowed things up for a bit. But after the dust settled the trout came right back and in no time flat, number 100 hit the ice!!!
Immediately after, Nunc had his turn to tango with his first redfish ever. With some good coaching and muscle on his part we landed that big sucker! It was worth any price of admission to see his reaction thereafter. Almost out of breath, all he could say is "I'm shaking like a leaf, I can't stop shaking like a leaf!" It was almost as if he had buck fever. That fish got him the money for the big fish bet of the day.
Turned out another awesome day on the water with a fun group of guys from Air Liquide! All fish were caught on live Boogie Shrimp under corks about 4' with a split shot.
Capt. Jonathan also had an awesome day limiting out right after us by 9am with the same quality fish!
I've said it before and I'll say it again.....The end of the summer action right now is as good as it's gonna get! NOW IS THE TIME TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS AWESOME TROUT BITE!!!
Along with that FALL FISHING is right around the corner. And every indication says this FALL is looking to be one of the BEST by far in YEARS!!!
