Yesterday I had the pleasure of fishing again with John Monzon "Bagel Boy", Bad Brad, Shane, and Travis.
They met me at BSM and we were off. Running out to the Sound in open water we hit an underwater obstruction in 8' of water. Hoping it was just propeller damage, we idled to a nearby point of land, about 1 mile away, to change the wheel and asses the damage.
While I was overboard putting on the spare the crew started tossing out the live Boogies and hauling trout over the side. It turned out the prop shaft was bent beyond repair.
I got in touch with Capt. Frank and asked him if he had cell service to call Capt. Dane who was off. Sure enough, a client had service and Capt. Dane was on his way.
In the meantime my crew was taking advantage of every last Boogie shrimp in the live well, and fortunately, putting them to good use!
Capt. Dane arrived with FJ Campo on the scene in perfect timing as my crew just burned the 300th shrimp around 9am. We were able to make lemonade out of some lemons, 82 speckled trout later, a tow in, and Tim's Marine for getting me back in action for tomorrow's trip! Thanks to everyone who par took in the day's event.
Yesterday just proves how AWESOME the fishing is!! We idled to a random point and my crew accidentally put 82 speckled trout on ice.
