Quality fish on the Beach Sunday. Rickey Pisani, Randall Boutin, and Kevin Hollier from the Lafayette area were on board. The rest of their group was with Capt. Frank. The conditions were perfect, flat calm and plenty of tide. When we got to our first stop in the Sound in the dark it looked like it was going to be an easy slam. The water was moving, bait was everywhere, and fish were breaking the surface all around. Everyone tossed out Campo's live shrimp under a cork, and fish were striking the cork before they found the shrimp and took off. Only problem was they were Lady Fish and I mean big ones. We hopped around a few wells in the area and had trouble getting to the Trout thru the Ladies. We spent most of the day running from them looking for Trout. At one stop we got a slow bit of Trout and only a few Ladies. The action was not that fast, but fast enough and the Trout were well worth it. These were big fat Trout 3 and 4 pounds. When this bite died out we made a few more moves covering a lot of water picking up a few here and a few there. Running out of bait at our last stop I hooked everyone up with Gulp shrimp on the hook instead of live under a cork and the Trout were hitting them well. Time was running out and we had to leave those fish biting, but with non stop action all day long either from the trash fish or good fish the gang has a blast. Total catch in the box was 48 Trout (logs), 1 Red, 1 Pompano, 2 Drum, and 3 Spanish.
The fishing remains outstanding so come on down and see what a great fishery we have in the Shell Beach area. Be sure stop by Campo's for their friendly service, world famous live shrimp, croakers, ice, fuel, and launch.
We have a few days open this week so if you want to get in on some of the best fishing to be found give us a call. Check out the photos of the fish our guests have been catching. For charter info call (504)-881-9966 or (504)-887-4960.
