REDS, REDS AND MORE REDS!!!
Well without sounding like a broken record the redfishing is still very good down in Hopedale. We have been fishing everyday and the best thing going is redfish on spoons and dead shrimp.
We have been fishing more towards Lake Robin, Lake Calabasse and Drum Bay. The reds seem to have moved the past two days from the leaward sides of the bays to the "windish," not a real word but sounds good, shorelines.
Key to catching right now is to pop the cork, but allow the bait to stay in the same spot, don't move it forward when taking slack, the wind will push the cork and your bait back. The reason for this is that the reds will hear the popping, come and investigate, and the bait will be right in the spot of the noise! If you move it they cannot zero in on the bait.
Well, limits of reds are coming in everyday but the last few days the bulls are starting to show up!! Yesterday my crew was from Chicago and they had never fished Redfish before, we caught a bunch of regular reds but they wanted to catch the bulls that everyone talks about. With spoons at hand Ted hooked the first one and they could not believe it, 25lb reds in less than 1.5ft of water! WOW!!!!
It was a great day of fishing and the weather could not have been any better.
Today the weather was not so good!! The winds were 15+ out of the North but the fish didn't mind it. We fished the same way in the same areas and caught a bunch of reds. We did catch a good bit of smaller reds today in with the normal 23-25 inch fish.
We have openings next week and the weather looks to be very nice, so call today and get on the books!!
