Here we are late October the salmon are all but gone and the river is still very busy.
The upper river remains crowded and the left over salmon fisherman are wandering around looking and stalking what is left of the 2008 salmon run. In the meantime they are spooking all the trout and making it diffficult for those of us that want to fish for them. Looks like the forecast of heavy rains and wind, along with the water going to 750 plus run-off when we do get the rain, will send the sight fishermen packing.
I don't want to sound bitter but come on, snagging left over half dead salmon? You have to have something better to do. A job? House work? Hunting? Maybe even try fishing for the fish?
OK enough of that.
Steelhead and brown trout continue to enter the river everyday. The fishing has been outstanding to ok, depending on the area you are fishing and what you are using.
Trout beads in glow-roe and good ole gooey egg sacs are taking all of our fish. Whether bottom bouncing or float fishng, a 10 pound main line and 8 pound leader will work just fine. Fish are scattered and are biting really good when they are not being spooked.
See you out there, Troy
