Water is still high and cold. A few dropbacks are biting as are a few fresh fish. The spawners appear to be in lock down mode, as I can barely get a bite fishing the gravel. This will all change soon, but probably not until after this cold front coming in for the next week. Back to 20's and 30's with wet snow and rain. Welcome to spring in the North Country!! Looks like another tough week in front of us.
Spent a few days with long time guests Bob and Joe. These guys have fished the river, lake and about every trib from here to Niagara with me. They are well tuned vets and we felt like we were doing things right. The fish had different ideas as we tortured dozens of spots and only came up with a few each day. Better than nothing, as I hear of alot of zips going on right now. I am happy for every bite. We even smiled over a few huge chubs that sucked down our egg sacs!!
Joe with a nice hen.
Bob with his first of the day.
Joe with a nice bright hen. He wanted to keep one fish and the eggs were still tight in the skein.
Bob with a nice brown trout that smashed an easter egg hot shot.
Thanks to all my wonderful guests my river dates have completely filled for the Spring
