A "Small Craft Advisory" was issued for Shell Beach on Friday. Four members of the Small Craft Advisory Fishing Club came down for a weekend of fishing, fun, and mayhem. Well the weather matched the club name, with winds blowing 20-25. Chris, Gary, Mark, and David all good fishermen knew it would be a tough day of fishing, but the beer was cold and they were not at work so all was good. We started out trying to get close to the outer edge of the marsh looking for Trout. We bounced around a few spots and also chased some birds picking up few keepers, but plenty action. We did not stick with this long since all we were doing was beating up little fish and I hate to do that. We changed gears and headed into the marsh looking for Reds. We made several moves picking up fish at each and the guys managed to put together a nice box of fish in some horrible conditions. Ended up with 13 Reds, 12 Trout, 6 Drum, 3 Flounder, and one heck of a good time. The guys are fishing Saturday in their boat and then back with me on Sunday. I sure hope the wind lays down so we can get back to the Trout slam in the Sound.
The fishing in the Shell Beach area is great and when the weather has been good it has been incredible. Call United Charters now to book your next fishing adventure 504-439-1680.
