Weiss Lake Guide Service Report 1/28/2011

Crappie - Crappie are still hanging out on the river channel ledges waiting for the water to warm. Water temps are struggling to break 45 degree's and crappie are not falling for any chase baits. Slow is the way to go right now with small stringers coming from up river Spider Rigging ledges in 14 to 16 feet of water with live bait. Strong current is keeping crappie buried up in deeper brush and log jams. With the warmer weather forecasted for the next few days should help jump start long line trolling. Look for these fish to migrate into the coves just off the main river. Water temps are warmer upriver so these fish will make the first move. Still some good fish coming from Chattooga River area using the fly and cork fished about 6 feet deep in 8 to 10 feet of water. No good reports of trolling fish yet but it want be long get ready...! Good Fishing...!
