CCA Redfish Practice
My son Capt. Tim and I decided to practice for the upcoming CCA tournament Saturday since it looks like the conditions are going to be similar, WINDY!!! We decided to go primarily with gold weedless spoons which made it easier to cast in the wind. We mostly ran around looking for clean water and finally found some and the reds were active as over a 4 hour period we caught and released 22 reds from 20 to 28 inches. Hopefully the tides stay high as more clean water will filter deep into the marsh along with the reds. After catching a few reds I wanted to try to catch a red on a rig I made up, a blurp shrimp tail on a 3/0 worm hook hooked up weedless with a 1/8 oz. sliding worm sinker, it worked great but not on the redfish but the trout loved it. I casted it to the bank and when it got about 10 feet from the bank a trout would slam it, it's a great rig for shallow water, for deeper water just use a heavier sinker, a gulp shrimp will probably work even better. I picked up about 11 trout on this rig using the pearl blurp shrimp. We were glad to find the reds as we have a good place to start next Saturday. ANOTHER GREAT DAY SPENT WITH MY SON IN HIS HYDRA SPORTS BAY BOLT.
GIVE US A CALL AND GET IN ON SOME GREAT SPRING AND SUMMER TROUT ACTION AND LET US MAKE SOME GREAT MEMORIES FOR YOU.
