Weekend report from the Beach. It was another couple of wind blown days of fishing on Friday and Saturday. Friday I fished with Thomas Tubre and his friend Alex. The plan was to get out early to beat the wind to catch some big Sound Trout. Things looked good, but at the end of the MRGO the east wind was starting to blow. We made it to one wellhead with the wind humping by then and put a few nice 3 pound Trout in the boat. Instead of going further out in worsening conditions to the marsh we went. Bouncing from pond to pond we put a nice box of Reds and Heads together before calling it quits so Alex could get to work on time. We had a lot of fun catching 12 Reds, 6 Sheepshead, 8 Trout and 1 Flounder.
Sunday Brian Renshaw brought along Alan, Phil, and David. These guys are always a lot of fun to fish with. The plan was to fish for the big Trout in the Sound, but Mother Nature had other plans. We made one stop in Eloi and struck out in the dirty water. We headed out further into the sound with the stiff west wind. Next two spots I wanted to fish had boats on them already. We made a stop picking up a big Red. Was going to move to another rig, but I decided it was just too rough and the wind was going to get worse. Off to the marsh for some Reds. The west wind made for low dirty water and slow action till late when the tide turned around. Once it did the guys started putting something in the box instead of releasing stingrays. Never did see the rays so active. Final catch was 13 Reds, 2 Heads, and 1 Drum. As usual the Renshaw group fished hard, filled the Trash Trappers with empties, and had a great time.
One of these days the weather will settle down. When it does the Trout will be out there waiting for you. Till then the Reds in the marsh have been a lot of fun. Call United Charters now to book your next fishing adventure 504-439-1680.
