Crappie fishing is good... - I was on the water today 04/12/08 with clients David and Sue Morgan from Greenville Alabama we had a good stringer of 60 keeper crappie. We fished today on the upper Coosa in Deadboy and Trotters Cove. The cold front we are dealing with right now hasn't slowed the bite down that much but the winds have been really bad for the last few days making it tough to fish where the crappie are holding. All of these fish today came from 4 to 6 feet of water trolling shallow water flats with isolated stumps. Pulling 1/32 oz jig heads using Southern Pro Hot Grubs in Sour Grape, Wally World and Black/Blue Chartreuse have been working good this week. Most females I have been catching this week have already spawned out and feeding up hitting a slow trolled jig really hard. Good stringers of crappie are also still being caught shooting docks in 6 to 8 feet of water using a 1/24 oz jig head with a Southern Pro Stinger in Black / Blue Chartreuse tail. Long Line Trolling is still working good catching post spawn crappie and some nice male crappie. It should get even better as the water warms back up and the winds finally lay... Thanks and "Good Fishin"
