What a great day to be outdoors Friday. My crew for the day Sal Faia, his son Forest from Chicago, and Russell Marse met me at Campo's were we picked up out live shrimp before heading out. We started out making a couple of stops in Bayou Sue but did not find much action. The tide was falling hard and fast. We went back out into Lake Borgne and found a few birds working near the mouth of a small bayou where we started to pick up some good Trout, and Forest hooked into a big Red that gave him one heck of a fight. The action slowed up as the tide got lower so off to St Marlo we went. We got set up over a 12' deep channel next to a shallow flat. The bottom was full of Sheepshead with a few Trout and the flat was full of Trout. Drop a shrimp to the bottom and it was an instant Sheepshead which was fine with them since they love to eat them. Cast a shrimp under a cork over the flat and the cork would disappear immediately. The Trout action was fast but they were on the small side with lots of throwbacks. We called it quits with 62 Trout, 27 Sheepshead, and 2 Reds on ice. The guys said they had a great time and look forward to the next trip.
