Quality day on the Beach Wednesday. My guests for the day were Tom Nelson, his sons Mike, grandson Thomas, and Jessie. Tom told me first thing that he did not care about numbers today. All he wanted was a few quality fish, quality time with his family, and that Thomas age 8 had a great time. He did say that he wanted some Reds for the grill. Conditions looked great so we went into the Sound looking for some of those quality Trout. We went right to where I nailed the big Trout the day before and things looked good. That is till I opened the bait well and found it full of dead shrimp with just a few live ones hanging on. The over flow drain tube can out of the bottom of the well on the ride out and the shrimp were high and dry, not good. The guys did a great job of putting some quality Trout (2-4 pounds) in the box with the remaining live shrimp and even a few with the dead ones. There were plenty of sharks around and they had fun catching them also. Tom battled with a big Red for over 30 minutes and we finally had to release the anchor and chase it down, it would not give up, but Tom won the battle and the Red was released. With only dead bait left and a request for eating Reds we hit the marsh. With dead shrimp under a cork they filled the box up. Total was 20 Trout, 12 Reds, and 2 Sheepshead. They had a great time spending some quality time doing some quality fishing and I had the pleasure of sharing it with them. Mission accomplished.
