Another Overnight Sucess
Capt. Charlie Durand and Capt. J.W. Berry departed Sunday from Cypress Cove Marina on a overnight trip with Mr. Myke Whitaker and Mrs. Dana Witte from Texas. They went to do some trolling first and that paid off with two large Wahoo. They fished a while longer and then off to catch the Tuna. Once out to the first stop they began catching Black Fin Tuna. Most didn't make it to the boat whole from the sharks getting a snack on the way up with them. The Black Fin Tuna were thick but no sign of the Yellow Fins. So off to the next stop, there the action seemed to be the same lots of Black Fin and covered with sharks. Capt. J.W. told me that the seas got pretty sloppy around two in the morning and they headed north to where they had caught the Wahoo, and got ready for the morning bite. Once morning came it was different the current was ripping and the water had changed colors. They fished a while and then decided to go a catch Amber Jacks. Those came with ease, with the Amber Jacks in the boat and the seas picking up Capt. Charlie pointed the boat to the north and ran in. At the dock the real weight could be set for these two big Wahoo that they caught on their trip. They weighed 104 pounds and 84 pounds and also had a mess of Black fin and Amber jacks to fill the coolers up with. And as it seems Mr. Myke will have some new friends in Texas when he hands out Wahoo to his buddies that didn't get to come along on the trip with them.
