Well the weather has cooperated over the past week or so…..even though we still seem to have breezier winds than normal.
Fishing has been very good especially with the Reds and Trout.
Large Reds continue to give our customers awesome action on light tackle with the largest this week going 38 pounds and was caught in 2 ½ feet of water. Slot Reds have not been a problem, especially with the good tidal movement that we experienced this past week. Even on the windy days the Reds seemed to cooperate. Just find some protected cove or waters a little cleaner water and it was on!
As far as the Trout, kind of crazy, as one day you can't keep them off the hooks and the next day you have to hunt them down. This is the time of the year when anglers have a pretty good opportunity to catch a large trout but that is predicated on conditions. Windy days = tough conditions for large trout, but when the winds are calm we are seeing some awesome Trout. These weeks large Trout pressed a little over 7 pounds, weighing in at 7.4 pounds. Average Trout this week was between 1 ½ and 3 pounds.
