Fished Friday out of Venice thinking that we would be greeted at the gulf with 3-4 sea's which turned out to not be the case. The seas were flat all day!! Go figure!
We still have open days over the next two months including some weekend dates. The tuna and wahoo are showing up in good numbers now, should get better over the next couple of weeks! If you want to fish, just let us know. We can set you up with lodging as well!
Friday's trip started out a little slow but would soon pick up. Spent most of the morning trolling for wahoo with no luck so decided to put a few grouper in the boat! I know that the spot we were in holds grouper, the only problem was the amberjack would hit the bait as fast as it could get down! We were using live mullet and Butterfly jigs, never a dull moment! We were able to catch a few blackfin, a limit of jacks and then the big one hit. Something big hit one of the jigs on spinning tackle but I could tell it was no AJ! After about 5 mins into the fight I could tell it was a Yellowfin and in 1 1/2 hours we stuck a gaff in an 80 pounder! What a fight on light tackle!
After ice was on all fish, Capt Peace called me over to catch some of the huge blackfin he was hooking on the troll! As luck would have it, after we got to Capt Peace, the fish shut down! I told you I was bad luck Peace!!
Decided to hit the troll for wahoo one more time with no luck again! We packed it in for the day then I found out the next day that Capt Peace found the wahoo right after we left! There is that luck again!! lol!!
As you can tell by the posts that the Captains have been making, fish are in Venice right now! All you have to do is catch them! Call us for your trip!!
