Although I normally fish out of Venice, I had a special request to run a trip out of Cocodrie. I met my crew at about 5:45 and after loading some food and drinks in the boat we were pulling out around 6:00. Not long after we stopped to make bait, we had aout two dozen hardtails in the well so we continued south. With the seas being flat calm the boat ride was a quick one, but honestly I was kind of nervous because it seems that the fish get finicky when the conditions are that calm. As soon as we arrived I put out two bigger live baits and the fish did not seem to want what we were offering. We then went and filled the second well with some perfect sized cracks. After soaking a few of the small baits for a while with no action and more and more boats arriving, I decided we had to make a move. After a short run we approached another floater with zero surface action. Before I could get the second live bait out, the first rod was already screaming. After boating a nice yellow, we tried to put out two more baits, but the first bait was smashed again before I could get the second out of the well. after some fast and furious action, we were heading north a couple hours later with seven yellows, which the biggest being around 110 or so. When we got back we snapped a few pics at bayou bait and tackle and Gordon was nice enough to let us clean our fish there. To get in on some serious tuna fishing give me a call at 504-416-4864 or e-mail me at voodoosportfishing@yahoo.com. I have a few openings in each of the upcoming weeks and I still have a few Saturdays open.
Thanks, Captain Trey Pique
