As busy as it has been, I wish the fishing was a little better. It is not bad, but not red hot like it should. We have managed to catch a sailfish on every single trip but one since the last report. Our best day we caught 9 sailfish, but for the most part have been averaging 2 to 5 sailfish per trip.

After a giant surge in sailfishing that had anyone who could put a live bait in the water catching numerous sails, the action has settle back to more of what normally takes place in January. How much action you'll see on any given day depends on the wind and current conditions as well as what part of the coastline you're fishing.

Now to the fishing part. It's been a few weeks since my last report, but as usual the holidays weeks in December are extremely busy and I have been fishing every day. I wish the fishing could have been a bit better, but we did have a lot of quality catches, including some big dolphin, swordfish on every trip, and sailfish on every trip but one.

Offshore has mainly been dolphin (mahi-mahi) and sailfish. Throw in some bonito, amberjack, black grouper, and mutton snapper and you have a very good mixed bag of both game fish and eating fish.

The wind finally laid down after an extremely windy two weeks. It laid down just in time for us. Today I had a great customer and good friend, Roger, fishing with us. Roger and I have caught practically every species that inhabits our area and have caught countless amounts of sailfish and swordfish as well as wahoo, dolphin, kings, tunas etc.

Before the heavy rain, the fishing was actually very, very good. With decent looking water and good north current, there were plenty of sailfish around.
