The winter fishing patterns have definitely arrived but with that goes the winter weather patterns as well. The cold fronts drop in, push the temps. into the low 30's, we even got snow two weeks ago, then 1 week later we are in the 80's with record breaking temps. Along with this type of weather we get socked in fog, 20-30 knot north winds for a couple of days and then 20-25 knot south winds for a couple of days so the weather patterns have definitely been keeping us at the dock for the most parts of the week. Fortunately, for the offshore fishermen, January is usually a mild month with not too much extreme weather so we should get our days in which will produce incredible catches. For the past three years January has produced 200+lb. Yellowfin tuna. We have been getting out some and the Tuna, Wahoo, and A.J..s have been our main catch. The wahoo bite is starting up and couldn't be more welcomed, and as usual for this time of the year most of them are 50+lbs. I look forward to fishing them for the next several months. The tuna should really start to move in close as they normally do this time of the year. Our last trip out was on Saturday with the Brand Energy Group and they got their fill of Tuna, A.J.'s, and Wahoo. We will be back at it again after this weekend. We still have open days to fish in Jan. and Feb. and both months will produce a lot of fish.
I would like to wish a Merry Christmas to all of the readers and customers. We certainly do appreciate your business.
