Late Report for Last Saturday from Shell Beach by Rory Rorison (10/14/2018)
Late report from last Saturday at Shell Beach. I had the pleasure of taking Bert and Molly into the marsh to look for some reds. It was breezy and overcast with the tide rising fast. We made one stop and it was nonstop action. The reds were silly and we limited out in short order.
Friday Fun at Shell Beach by Rory Rorison (9/25/2018)
Friday fun at Shell Beach. I picked up John, his wife Nicole and their son Q from their camp. It was Q’s birthday fishing trip and he was ready to hit the water. It was just a little to breezy to run out to the Sound so we stayed closer in.
Wind From the West Fish Bite the Best by Rory Rorison (7/20/2018)
Wind from the West fish bite the best. Not really, any kind of west wind is not favorable for our area, but if it is not too bad you can deal with it. Deal with it is what the Chad Mason group did today. After a slightly bumpy ride to the fishing grounds we stop at our first rig and caught a few nice trout, but they would never turn on.
West Wind Trout at Shell Beach by Rory Rorison (7/19/2018)
Saturday I had the Reliable Disposal crew on the boat. We were greeted to a stiff NW wind that made for a rather sporty ride to our destination. Things started off a little slow, but after bouncing around a few wellheads we got on a couple good bites with Campo’s live shrimp 3’ under a cork.
It's Been a Good June So Far in Shell Beach by Rory Rorison (6/20/2018)
It’s been a good June so far at Shell Beach. The summer weather is here and so are the trout. We have mostly been fishing deep in Breton Sound targeting larger trout with good success, but having to hunt around from rig to rig catching several trout till the bull reds or sharks take over. This makes for a lot of exciting action and ice chest stuffed to the top with fish.
Funky Weather Friday at Shell Beach by Rory Rorison (5/29/2018)
Funky weather Friday at Shell Beach. When the David Broussard group showed up at the dock there was quite a light show going on in the area. Good thing was most of it was clearing out as we pulled out the slip. With the wind blowing a bit too much to get out to the Sound and plenty of storms in the area we set up in a semi protected area off the MRGO.
Slammed Them Today at Shell Beach by Rory Rorison (5/24/2018)
I had the Renshaw group from Atlanta today and it was not a typical trip for them. Generally when Brian comes to town the wind blows like no one business, but today it was clam as could be. We ran out into the Sound and got on a decent trout bite putting close to 60 in before it died.
Tough Tuesday at Shell Beach by Rory Rorison (5/21/2018)
Tough Tuesday at Shell Beach with the Jim Walther group. I say tough, but it really was not. We started off at a small rig in Eloi and got a decent trout bite going. The trout were not quite as nice as the day before and there were a lot of croakers and white trout mixed with the throwbacks. With the wind dead calm and the tide moving so we headed to the Sound to look for the big trout Jim likes.
Monday Trout Haul at Shell Beach by Rory Rorison (5/17/2018)
Monday Trout haul at Shell Beach. I had the Tim Bonura group onboard. Conditions were nice, so we headed straight out into to the Sound. We made only one stop at a small wellhead. The Trout bite would start and stop, but we stuck with it and were done by 11.  Campo’s live shrimp 3’ under a cork did the damage.
Late reports for the end of April from Shell Beach by Rory Rorison (5/16/2018)
A couple of late reports for the end of April from Shell Beach. Both days we had to deal with wind and really low water limiting our options, but dealing with the hand we were dealt we ended up with full boxes of fish.
Shell Beach Head Hunting by Rory Rorison (4/07/2018)
Friday Stephen LaCoste and his sons Cole and Christian joined me for a run into the Sound. There was a little chop on the way out, but it calmed down and got slick as we got further out. The first rig we hit started out slow with way too many catfish. We made a move and found another rig that looked to be holding fish and tried it out.
Big Fish Beat Down in Shell Beach by Rory Rorison (4/03/2018)
Big fish beat down in Shell Beach today with the Chad Bilotti group from Atlanta. Today started out a little windier than yesterday and I was not sure we could get out in the Sound, but it was not too bad. Our first stop started off slow with a bunch of catfish.
Shell Beach Meat Haul by Rory Rorison (4/02/2018)
Shell Beach meat haul today. The Royce family were my guests of the day and a good day it way. The weather was perfect so we headed deep into the Sound. We made two stops and filled the boat with fish and let a bunch go for another day.
Thursday Trout haul at #ShellBeach by Rory Rorison (3/19/2018)
Most of the action lately has been on Sheepshead and Bull Reds out in Breton Sound. The action has been crazy fast and the catching as easy as it gets. My crew yesterday, Joe and Paul, wanted to look for some speckled trout on the edge of The Sound. With the fish still transitioning to their spring hangouts the trout were very scattered.
Late Reports From the Beach by Rory Rorison (12/09/2017)
Late reports from the Beach. Last Friday I had a fun trip with my old friend Gary. We made one stop in Lake Robin and limited out on trout along with a bunch of bass, a few sheepshead, and 1 red.
Cold Front Fishing at the Beach by Rory Rorison (11/11/2017)
Cold front fishing at the Beach Thursday. I had Don, Robert, and Stan on the boat and we started off a little lat waiting for the rain ahead of the cold front to push through. Definitely chillier and breezier than earlier in the week, but at least it felt actually like fall.
Saturday Fun at the Beach by Rory Rorison (11/07/2017)
They stayed the night at the First Cast lodge and we got an early start to try and beat some of the crowd. We headed down near Bakers Bay and got on a couple slow but steady bites. I figured it was better to stick out the slow and steady instead of looking for faster action elsewhere with so many boats out on the water.
Fantastic Friday at the Beach by Rory Rorison (11/04/2017)
Fantastic Friday at the Beach for the Jim Walther group. After picking the guys up at Jim's camp we made our way towards Delacroix. We started out fishing where a pass off Oak River goes into a shallow lake. Jim throws out and first bam a solid 3 pound trout was in the boat. The next two trout were just the same. It looked like it might be a monster trout slam, but that was it for there.
Monday meat haul at the Beach by Rory Rorison (10/31/2017)
Monday meat haul at the Beach for Carl and Jan Tarvin. The morning started off a little chilly, but warmed up nicely and so did the fish. We fished an area close to the house that I have not fished for a awhile and it turned out to be a good move.
Pretty day at the Beach today by Rory Rorison (10/27/2017)
I helped Capt. Ed run a bachelor party group. 3 jumped in my boat and the rest with Capt. Ed. They went outside looking for big reds and had fun catching and releasing most and brought back a few with some sheepshead. We hit the marsh for trout and whatever else would bite. Our first stop produced a lot of action.
Windy Wednesday at the Beach by Rory Rorison (10/26/2017)
Yesterday I ran part of the Jimmy Woods group for Capt. Jakamo. The latest front left behind a chilly morning with lots of wind and a strong falling tide. We headed to a lee shoreline of an interior lake behind Hopedale and were greeted by diving birds and shrimp jumping all over the place.
Windy Wednesday at the Beach by Rory Rorison (4/28/2017)
I had the pleasure of having Steven and Liz Schlesinger onboard. They were in town from New York and wanted to experience our Louisiana fishing while enjoying the city. We ended up with a little of a late start due to a transportation issue, but plan B got them to the dock. Due to the winds it was a plan B on the fishing too.
Fun Friday at the Beach for Frank and MaryAnn by Rory Rorison (4/24/2017)
Fun Friday at the Beach for Frank and MaryAnn. They were in town from Florida and wanted to get in a day of fishing. We started off on the edge of the Sound were I got on a good Trout bite a couple days before and Frank caught a really nice Trout right off the bat.
Time to catch up at the Beach by Rory Rorison (4/19/2017)
I know it has been a while since I last reported, and I will try to do a better job with the reports. The fishing in Shell Beach has been great. The early spring has everything starting early and it looks to be a great summer.
Great fall fishing at the Beach by Rory Rorison (12/11/2015)
Great fall fishing at the Beach. It has been a while since I posted any reports, but that does not mean I have not been fishing or the fish have not been biting. It has been a fantastic fall so far and does not look to stop anytime soon. Most days we have been limiting out on Trout along with a variety of other fish stuffing the ice chest to the top.
Great summer at the Beach by Rory Rorison (8/25/2015)
Great summer at the Beach. I have not been posting many reports, but have been fishing a lot and catching even more. The Trout action has been very good, even with all the west winds we have had to deal with.
Hot action on the Beach by Rory Rorison (7/04/2015)
Hot action on the Beach. The Trout fishing has been outstanding so far this summer. Most of the action has been deep in the Sound and the big water has been producing boxes crammed with big Trout.
Busy at the Beach by Rory Rorison (6/03/2015)
Busy at the Beach. I am way behind on fishing reports, but there are some photos of recent catches. The Trout fishing has been great the last couple of months with full limits most days, even in some not so good conditions. We have been catching lots of fish all over the area, both closer in and deep out in the Sound.
Good as it gets at the Beach today by Rory Rorison (5/12/2015)
Today I had the Jim Walther group. I picked Jim, Chris, Charles, and Ross up at their camps in Fort Beauregard. You could not ask for a prettier morning, slight overcast with very little wind and the water starting to rise. We started out at a cluster of pilings not far from the MRGO. From the first cast the guys were catching Trout one after the other.
Friday and Saturday report from the Beach by Rory Rorison (5/12/2015)
Friday and Saturday report from the Beach. I helped Capt. Dane out with a multi boat group both days. Friday I had four in my boat. We started out fishing a shoreline near the edge of the Sound with Campo's live shrimp 3' under a cork. The bite was not fast, but the Trout were very nice. We stuck with it till the bite really slowed down. We then made a move to a rig in Eloi.
