Capt Scott Leger and Capt Bill both ran successful day tuna trips..the bite was insane..Bill was done at noon with 12 yellowfins..Scott had 8 yellowfins..both were using threadfin and found a rig to themselves.Bill was already cleaned up befre I gotdown to prepare for my night trip..I left out at 6pm with Peyton and Kevin Hunskins in search of the purple gladiator aka Swordfish..lets just say we'll be grilling fresh sword steaks tomorrow..unlike previous attempts this was a striclty swordfish charter..not for that mater we had immediate action..bite was such that it would give anyone confidence..I was worried about being sharked to deathe being that we'd be fishing green water, but past experience would prove otherwise..got set up at sundown and 10 minutes into our trip we had our first run off..let the fish eat a good while and it would evenually prove tobe gut hooked..first up was Peyton came tight on the fish, harnessed up and stuck it to the fish..it was still daylight when we got hit and we never did get a jump out if the fish so we are were guessing on whatit could be..about a few shades to dark and 45 minutes later we got our first look at the 100 plus pounder and the mood changed to excitement..
It was pretty whipped but still gave John some difficulty ontheleader butonce double gaffed she came into the boat without much fight..next up was Kevin who got his chance minutes later as I got popped while I was setting out our third and final line onthe second drift; turned out the fish got wrapped up in the line and came in dead about 20 minutes later..now 930pm we all thought it was going to be an early night.we even joked about going tuna or snapper fishng ..oh but the ever elusive last fish...inthe next 8 hours we made 5 more drifts; got one more bite and then nothing but sharks or bait fish bites a couple baits were nibbled to the hook or head..great night to be out..Pictured is the Dan Miller crew from Scott's boat..
