The day started out overcast and little bit of rain here and there and the water surface temperature averaged around 26 deg. C. In the morning there was very little wind but later on a SW wind picked up and the sun showed it face and made for a really hot day. The dam was completely flooded and the water level considerably higher that it was the last time we were there.
Based on the frontal system that has been hanging around the past few days our strategy was to fish finesse style with 6lb lines, and once we launched we wanted to go to our regular spots, which were unfortunately all taken and so we fished other spots that we usually do not go to.
It was not very long before I had the 1st fish on, and when we measured the bass was 295mm, just 5mm shy of a keeper. In the end we caught another 7 Bass all of similar size and 1 under 200mm. This was really frustrating as we had boated 9 fish but all undersize. We then went to the S-Bends and I put the boat into the grass to fish the flooded water behind the grass when Mike put a worm into the shallows and immediately was into a fish which was to be our only keeper for the day just a little over 1Kg (2.2lbs).
Days like this are frustrating when you just cannot get the pattern for the day, and you know that someone else has got it, but these are also the days where you learn a lot and it makes you try harder for next time.
