today
Today was pretty much the same, but even better quality. Had a limit before 9 and started releasing. We were trying to cull through and find a 7+ but the best we could do was 6.5. Today I had 7 gallons of fillet and we threw back all the biggest fish! Venice is the place to be right now! www.rodnreel.com/reelshot
Yesterday
Got a report from Capt. Jeff on Saturday evening that he had found some GOOD fish late in the day. We decided to make an early run for some topwater action on Sunday morning. Arrived just as the sun was peaking over the horizon and immediately picked up some nice trout. I noticed that the trout were slapping at the bait more than actually trying to eat it, so we went sub surface. The Catch 5 was by far the best and we went to work on them. In the morning the fish were big females on a slow steady bite. After the tide turned the males went to work and it just went nuts! We already had a limit and threw back 50-60 in a little over an hour! Back at the dock, the trout we kept filled 6 GALLON BAGS! Now that is some THICK fish. Nearly every fish was over three pounds with 6 pounds being the biggest. Sunday was not the day to come in to Venice Marina with only a few fish as EVERYBODY had loads of HAMMERS. Several 8 pounders brought in over the last few days as well. Some FINE fishing down here in Venice right now!
I'm booked until the end of June, but dont wait around on those Summer and Fall dates. They wont last long.
