OPEN BOAT SUNDAY (8TH)
Saturday, Aaron and I ran a trip aboard the Stress Managment for Gary with Strike Zone! Felt good to be back on the big boat, its a little warmer this time of year!
We still have plenty of open dates right now, we are booking two boats this winter, we are also able to make trips to the Green Canyon, this is where all of the yellowfin are right now! We have this Sunday open and one boat open for next Saturday and Sunday!
Saturday, we decided we would try for wahoo first then find the amberjack and grouper! We trolled for a while, went 0 for two on wahoo then decided to make a run to put meat in the boat and that we did!
We were able to get good bait so this made our job pretty easy! The first rig we dropped down on proved to be no good but our second spot was a keeper! We were able to locate some beautiful amberjack, one about 80 pounds, two in the 60-70 pound range, one about 50 pounds then one baby! We also found a nice scamp on a small live bait, a few almaco jacks and just when we thought we were hooked up to our last big AJ, an 80 pound warsaw grouper pops up. We were pretty excited to see this big boy! The warsaw also taking a small live bait, down about 300 feet!
Over all, the fishing has been very good in Venice right now! Most days we are catching big wahoo, there are some tuna being caught! The amberjack and grouper are on fire right now and the cobia should be around any day now! If you are looking for action and meat to bring home, just give us a call!
