What a season we are having here in Venice Louisiana! We have been very fortunate to have some great weather along with even better fishing. I have had the opportunity to fish with folks from all around the country and the consensus is always the same: Tuna Are Bad Ass! As I write this we are getting ready for our first real cold front of the season. I expect the fishing to get even better with the opportunity at multiple fish over 200 pounds each day! I still have dates open in November and December, so please give me a call (504) 684-1880 if you are ready to fish the Tuna Capital of The world.
Now onto our recent catches.
Not much has changed since my last report, other than we are getting multiple opportunities at big fish on most trips. I'm talking BIG tuna, pushing over 200 pounds.
Upgrading to our new 2017 36' Yellowfin has been part of the reason of our success over the rest of the fleet. We are getting to the fishing grounds faster and more efficiently, giving us the best shot at those tuna feeding first thing in the morning. That's not to say the fish aren't eating all day, it's just being the first boat out there is a huge advantage and has led to some great catches.
With big fish, the fights are longer (over 1 hour) and the tax man (sharks) are usually around. Sometimes they are red hot on our fish. Here you can see we had a big bull shark get half our tuna. We got the good half for the table!
As we approach November, it is PEEK Season for our biggest fish of the year. Hopefully we get beautiful weather for all our clients booked and for those that want to book, we still have a few good dates open.
