Birthday Present - Capt Susie (11/23/2006)
[Lower Luguna Madre,TX] Due to a strong frontal passage on Sunday morning, I was forced to cancel my charter for the day. Monday's forecast promised to be a little better. The wind did die down to about 15-20 out of the North. My clients, Scott and his son John, from around the Houston area, were ready to get out on the water. They had what you call cabin fever after having planned on two days of fishing and forced to cancel one.

First Time Fishing For Reds (11/13/2006)
[Lower Luguna Madre,TX] This past Monday was a great guiding day for me. I had a client that was different from any other client I've ever fished. His name was Doug Brady. He was born and raised in Oregon and he still lives there but only 6 months out of the year. The other 6 months, December through May, he lives in Belize, Central America. He was a very experienced flats fly fisherman, but had never before fished for redfish.

High Tide Lagoon Fishing (11/12/2006)
[Lower Luguna Madre,TX] I went out scouting with Susie today. She has a fly fishing charter with an outfitter from Belize tomorrow and she needed to locate some fish and I wanted to show her one of my favorite fly fishing spots when the tide is right.

Big Fish Trophy - Capt Susie (11/04/2006)
[Lower Luguna Madre,TX] Last Saturday I really had a great time guiding Lindsey from Washington State, Mike from Chicago, Jason from Denver, Mark from Austin and Jerry from Harlingen. It was a fun fishing trip because all of them are such great friends. Every time they fish together they have a fishing contest between them. They have a Big Fish Trophy that they pass back and forth and Mark was the current holder of the trophy.

Get Away Weekend - Capt. Susie (10/29/2006)
[Lower Luguna Madre,TX] Another cool front blew through at the end of the week bringing cooler temps and clear skies. Saturday morning at 7:30 was a little eye tearing and face burning running out the Arroyo. It was around 55 degrees but felt a lot cooler on the water especially with the brisk north wind blowing.

Sneaky Afternoon - Capt. Susie (10/24/2006)
[Lower Luguna Madre,TX] Tuesday morning we had sunshine. It looked like a perfect day for fishing. I didn't have a charter, but wished I did. What a great day to be out on the water. Just my luck, somebody else was thinking the same thing. I got a call around 10 a.m. from a local client out of Harlingen. He said he and a friend wanted to sneak away for a quick afternoon of fishing .
