Cold Front Is Here - Fishing On Butler Chain by
Tim Fey
(1/25/2007)
Bass fishing, even with the cold front here, is still doing good on Butler Chain. This is the time of year to catch some serious bass on Butler, and as Rod knows, not having caught a 10 pound bass until yesterday, and having a shot at 3 of them in 2 days, this chain does hold some very good action, as he said “ that was exciting seeing her do all that” as the big gal attacked his bait.

10 Pound Bass by
Tim Fey
(1/23/2007)
Bass on Butler Chain have gotten very active as of late with great catches. The highlite of the days was when Rod had tossed his bait out, and in a matter of minutes the fight was on, this bass hosed his bait and ran all over the place, almost getting hung in the big motor, then making a move and almost tagging the trolling motor before Rod got her under control, and catching his first ever 10 pound bass...

Bass Fishing Butler Chain Florida by
Tim Fey
(1/14/2007)
Bass have been more active this past week and have been also showing up on the beds. Butler Chain as of late has been fishing pretty good, on the water Saturday saw a lot of boats doing the old run and gun in search for bass, and plenty were caught. Everything from spinner baits to 10 inch worms caught some very good quality bass with just over 16 pounds taking the prize at the end of the day.

Butler Chain Post Cold Front Fishing by
Eddie Bussard
(1/10/2007)
Fishing on the Butler Chain has been fair with the recent cold front. The water temp is between 66 and 67 degrees. There are alot of spawning beds in every lake on the chain. The fish moved off the beds yesterday after the BIG drop in water temp, but by this afternoon they were already moving back up.

Schooling Bass Action In Johns Lake by
Tim Fey
(1/05/2007)
Schooling action is back on Johns Lake and good solid bass being caught. The past week I have had several days out on Johns Lake, some scouting trips and some with clients. The waters have held a fairly steady temperature in the mid to upper 60's. Bass overall have been hitting good, with one day of having to plug away hard for our catch, as the front rolled thru.

Artificial bait bite on Butler Chain is kicking in great. The past week we have spent a few days out on Butler Chain following various bait fish pods and watching the schooling activity in many of the lakes. Schooling fish have been spotted on several of the lakes on the chain with the waters cooled down nicely and still very clean.

Blue Light Viper and Kicktail XL Lures Catching The Bass by
Tim Fey
(12/04/2006)
Schooling action on Johns Lake has been off and on, but the big gals are biting. We had a pretty good run out on Johns Lake Friday. Kevin from “Ultimate Fishing Site” came to fish Johns Lake and starting the day out was amazed at the schooling action he got to witness. Just as safe light cracked, the bass went to schooling in mass just about everywhere you looked in the Deer Island cut, catching quick bass with the lures he brought with him, the Bite Light Viper and the KickTail XL.

Swim Baits and Carolina Rigged Baits Worked Best by

(11/26/2006)
Johns Lake water have cooled to mid 60's during the day and bass are starting to repond better. This past week has been a week of tough bass fishing. With the major cold snap taking its toll on the bite the first part of the week, and the high winds at mid week, fishing SLOW was key to catching bass. Schooling activity on Johns Lake was “ok” at best, with bass feeding up and disappearing just as fast as they surfaced.

Lake Toho Bassin Action Great Despite High Winds by
Tim Fey
(11/03/2006)
Lake Toho Bassin action was great today, despite predicted high winds the bass still played well. Today we had a 4 hour run out on Lake Toho. Water temperature started out at a cool 72 degrees to start the day, and finished the day at 72. Finally cooler consistent water temps to help get the bass active and feeding up. This trip was part of a 10 boat deal and everyone had high hopes the winds would hold off till we were finished up.

Butler Chain Bassin Action Picking Up With Cooler Temps by
Tim Fey
(10/28/2006)
Butler Chain bassin action is picking up nicely with cooler water temps. Thursday we were out on Butler Chain with David for what turned out to be some tough fishing. From bluebird skies to party cloudy, and little to no breeze at times, the bass definitely did not want to play as they had in days past. We had started out on Lake Chase, working a deep water drop off area for a few with no luck.

Butler Chain Bassin action is only getting better as the waters cool down. With picture perfect weather as the cold front passed thru. Pattern from the past week now has been holding true, hitting areas on the chain in 6-8 foot of water, with a good drop off close by, meaning a drop off to 16 to 20 foot of water.

Butler Chain Bass Fishing Picking Up WIth Cooler Weather by
Tim Fey
(10/12/2006)
The last few days we have had runs out on Butler Chain, although we have had cooler nights and the waters have cooled down nicely, starting the day out with a surface temperature in the upper 70's, the bass have not turned on just yet. We have come across a lot of good sized schools running in 12 to 18 foot of water, but very little if any schooling action has been seen on the lakes we have been hitting.

June through September has been a non-stop feeding frenzy regardless of the air or water temperatures. Catches of 35-40 bass per outing were the norm for most of that time.
