Got a chance to come home for a day and took it. Haven't been putting up any reports because Brent and I haven't replaced the computer at the camp in Venice as of yet (no phone line in the house either). But the fishing has been excellent.

There is lodging available, and the Riverside Restaurant is now open. We are making progress. If you don't want to cook for yourself then you now have options. If you want to catch Venice trout and reds, then now is the time. The bite is on. Topwater, jigs and plastic under a cork, or tight lined. No matter how you like to fish, you can catch them. Most of the guides have shown back up and are fishing. I have only a few days left in June, but July and the rest of the summer are pretty much open. If you want to go then give me a call.

If you have a favorite guide in Venice, then give him a call. He would appreciate the business, also. The bite is on, and the guides in Venice are ready to show you a good time. Sunday was the last day I fished, and my party put 41 Venice trout in the boat. All on topwater. We had a 3.19lb average on the fish caught. It was fun. There are a lot of fish being caught in Venice that you are probably not hearing about, but the fish are there and you should be too. Give me a call. 225-268-9616. Until next time "stick em and net em".

Bio: My name is Capt. Larry Averitt, and I own and operate L.A. Charters. I am committed to giving my customers the most satisfying and enjoyable experience they can find when it comes to light-tackle fishing for speckled trout and redfish. I started fishing in the late 1960s and started fishing bass tournaments in 1970. I've been fishing for redfish and speckled trout since the early 1980s. It was a natural progression for me to make. What I learned fishing for bass has served me well as I now fish for saltwater species: Knowing seasonal patterns and being keenly aware of water conditions, temperature and other important details allows me to find fish for you.
